Fall & Spring Clean Up
Clean ups bookend our season, and are a key element in the success of your landscape from year to year. During Fall Clean Up, we typically leave grasses and ornamental shrubs up for winter interest- though prune lightly to help with snow load and fierce Colorado winds. We cut most perennials to the ground, rake, and haul fallen leaves away. During Spring Clean up, we prune shrubs, cut overwintered perennials back, and establish good structure and air flow in your garden. Spring is a great time to add new top soil to the landscape and refresh the mulch in beds. Starting in Mid May, we turn irrigation systems on, complete repairs and begin enhancement planting.
Container & Enhancement Planting
Idlewild Landscape Design's goal is to have full season color in Colorado. What is better than coming home to a garden bursting with color in the doldrums of late Spring? Spring blooming bulbs must be planted in September and October of the previous Fall. We use perennial bulbs that will add weeks of color to your garden. Front entry pots and window boxes are a great way to brighten up your home and increase curb appeal. We love to incorporate perennials in our containers so they can be transplanted into the garden, or offer more year round appeal. We offer containers that last all season, and also designs for the Holiday Season.
Holiday Lighting
Ring in the Holiday Season with handsome outdoor lighting and seasonal lights and decor. From Halloween through New Years, enhance your outdoor space with Holiday lighting and Decor. We offer full installation and take down of all Holiday enhancements.
Winter Watering
We offer Winter Watering from November 1st through May 1st. Winter Watering occurs once a month, when it is above 35 degrees. During these windows, we deep root water your trees and shrubs as well as sensitive perennials. This deep watering ensures the plants have adequate water, and also insulates the roots, making them less susceptible to shock during and rapid temperature change, or prolonged winter drought.
Regular & Seasonal Maintenance
To keep your garden blooming, weeds at bay, and irrigation running efficiently, we offer regular maintenance that fits the needs of your landscape and schedule. These visits focus on the health of your plants, suppression of weeds, and developing a strong foundation in the Colorado climate . We also offer container planting, and small enhancement planting.
Organic Soil Amendments
Wind strips mulch and top soil from beds, so adding organic material improves soil condition and moisture retention. Soil forms layers like lasagna- and each layer is essential to soil health. We don't till because it disrupts these symbiotic layers. Adding organic compost allows new nutrients and beneficial micro organisms to trickle down into the soil layer where they belong, rejuvenating soil from the inside out.
Irrigation Install, Audit and Repair
A well functioning irrigation system is free of leaks, misguided emitters and sprinkler overspray, and ensures your plants are getting water to their roots, without water waste. Our irrigation theory trains plants and turf to root deeply, making them more drought tolerant, and insulated from the erratic weather that Colorado is known for. We use drip emitters to all trees, shrubs and perennials so that each plant gets the specific amount of water it needs, and moisture isn't lost to wind or evaporation. We believe in maintaining functional turf areas that have even sprinkler coverage, and run at the optimal time of day.
Organic Fertilization
From Beneficial insects, to organic bloom booster, there is 100% organic, all natural fertilizer to help your garden thrive. If you want more blooms from your roses, or help recovering your garden from climate stressors, we have non toxic applications to help.
