Frequently Asked Questions
Have Questions? We've got answers! Committing to a new landscape can be daunting, but with out straight forward approach, honesty and experience, we can help you make confident, educated decisions.
What is sustainable landscape design?
Sustainable landscape design means doing things right the first time. By taking into account the specific needs of each site, and designing a landscape that meets those requirements, your landscape adds to the existing environment and has a place within it.
Our sustainable practices include planting densely, amending the soil deeply and installing water efficient irrigation. We choose climate adapted plants withstand wind and drought, and support wildlife and pollinators. We don't use weedcloth (unless it's under hardscaping), chemically treated materials, and source all materials locally.
How does your process work?
Our process begins with a Free Estimate. We come to your property, review your priorities and provide a generalized cost estimate for the work you would like done. After approval of those costs, we begin the design process where we clarify the exact layout, dimensions, materials, and color scheme of your landscape. A detailed estimate that reflects the specificities of the design is presented with the final design. After everything is detailed and cost approved, we schedule your project start date. A 50% deposit is due to secure your date.
Every project begins with some level of demolition. After demo, we grade the site, install boulders, hardscaping, drainage and tap irrigation. This is where things start to take shape and the project seems to pick up speed. We will then amend the soil, create paths, build out carpentry and prep to plant. At the very end, we plant, lay sod and mulch.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are insured. We are happy to provide certificates of insurance for your property before your project begins.
When is the best time of year to have a landscape installed?
April through October is the high season of landscape installation. While the ground isn't frozen, we can successfully grade, set hardscaping and irrigation and prep for planting. We prefer to plant between our frost dates of Mid May through Early October, but a lot of hardscaping can be done year round.
How will you communicate with me?
We can communicate however you prefer, but generally rely on email and text for communications. We like to meet our clients on site regularly to discuss the landscape in person.
